The Ballon d’Or Heist

The Ballon d’Or is stolen during a power cut, and football’s biggest stars chase it across London: Mbappé on a horse, Messi driving a bus, Haaland closing in. Made in just a few weeks, this AI fan film hit 100 million views in under 24 hours. Many call it the best and most realistic AI video ever made, and even Le Parisien named it “the phenomenon video.”

The 2026 Ballon d’Or race was wide open, so we stole the trophy. The Ballon d’Or Heist turned the ceremony into a chase across London and hit 100 million views in under 24 hours.

The 2026 Ballon d’Or Race Had No Favorite

Football’s biggest individual award had never felt this open - at least since the Ronaldo and Messi era. Lamine Yamal and Mbappé were campaigning for it in public, Kane was lurking, and the 70th ceremony was heading to London for the first time. Fans were already arguing about it everywhere.

Meanwhile, football advertising had lost something. Remember the 2000s Nike, Adidas, and Pepsi spots that turned players into movie stars? Nobody makes those anymore. People skip ads, but they never skip entertainment. We wanted to give fans the film they missed, right when the conversation was starting to peak.

What If Someone Stole the Ballon d’Or?

Didier Drogba steps up to announce the winner, the lights go out, and the trophy disappears. What follows is a chase through London where every superstar wants to get there first.

The fun is in the details fans recognize. Rodri gets injured just getting up from his chair. Messi drives the bus that helps the La Masia kid escape. Bellingham stops for selfies mid-chase. Every player shows their very own personality, a motive, and a joke that football fans fully get. And the ending stays open, because who’s taking it home this time?

How a Small Team Made a "Hollywood-Level AI Film"

About a month from start to finish: one week on the script, three weeks bringing it to life, with a small team. The hardest part wasn’t controlling the technology, it was the story. The first version of the script wasn’t funny, and it took guts to stop instead of pushing on. Then someone asked, “What if we put Mbappé on a horse?” That question set the tone for everything that followed.

From there it was craft: keeping a huge cast consistent from scene to scene, chase sequences that move like a real action film, and realism and character consistency that hold up frame by frame. Built with state-of-the-art AI models on Higgsfield and delivered as one hero film for every platform.

100 Million Views in Under 24 Hours

Published on October 12 across YouTube, Instagram, X, and TikTok, The Ballon d’Or Heist passed 100 million views in under 24 hours.

Dailysports called it a “Hollywood-level AI masterpiece.” Le Parisien went behind the scenes and named it “the phenomenon video,” and Vincent Garcia, editor-in-chief of France Football (the magazine behind the award), said it made him smile and called it a good teaser for the event. Goal, Crónica Global, and outlets across Europe picked it up too.

The fan comments said the rest:

- “Absolute Cinema! Joga Bonito Commercial flashbacks” - “This should be the official Ballon d’Or Promo Video…” - “Wtf! Did I just watch the greatest AI video ever?”
